New York City Car Rental and a Jackson Heights Overview
Jackson Heights is a neighborhood in Queens that you can visit with your New York City car rental. It known as an urban melting pot because there are many different ethnic populations in the area, especially multi-generational European and Asian Americans. This may be one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the United States. The boundaries are Northern Boulevard to the north, The Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to the west, Roosevelt Avenue to the south, and Junction Boulevard to the east.
Preserve your history
When you visit with your New York City car rental you will learn that most of the neighborhood is a National Historic District and there are many New York landmarks. The area was a planned development laid out in 1917 when the No. 7 subway stretched from Manhattan to Flushing. The community was initially designed for middle to upper-class workers from Manhattan as a place to raise their families. It was among the first garden city communities in the United States. There are more private parks within walking distance of each other than any other city in the country. Most of them are hidden from view between the buildings, but some of them are quite large, close to the size of Gramercy Park in Manhattan. For most of these parks, you need to have a key to the surrounding co-ops for entry. Because these parks are so desirable, the area in the historic district tends to be affluent.
